The Taliban has claimed responsibility for an attack on Care International's compound in Kabul.
In a statement issued late Tuesday the Taliban said that the compound was a secret foreign forces intelligence center that was disguised as a guest house.
At least three attackers were killed, six people were wounded and 42 others, including 10 foreigners, were rescued from the compound by Afghan security forces.
The Taliban said the compound was "located in-between important security organizations" and "was being used as an intelligence advisory and planning center."
It said it had been keeping the compound under surveillance for the past three months.
Militants had holed themselves up in the Care International building in the center of Kabul after staging a suicide bombing in front of it just after 11pm local time on Monday.
The attack followed a twin bombing earlier in the day in which 35 people were killed.
