
At least two civilians were killed and nine others including policemen were injured in a suicide attack targeting deputy police chief of southern Zabul province of Afghanistan on Monday, said officials.
Police Chief of Zabul, Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai told media that Zabul deputy police chief and his bodyguards survived the suicide attack but two civilians were killed.
He further said that the bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into the vehicle of Ghulam Jilani Farahi in Qalat city.
Five civilians and four policemen were injured in the explosion where a child was among the dead, he added.
The vehicle of the deputy police chief was damaged in the attack as he arrived in the provincial capital after carrying out anti-militants offensive in Atghar district.
Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks on security forces as NATO/ISAF withdrew their forces from Afghanistan handing over the security control to Afghan national forces from January 1, 2015.
