
At least 28 Taliban militants were killed following military operations conducted by Afghan national security forces to retake the control of Du-Aab district in Nuristan province, Khaama Press reported.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said Afghan national security forces launched a joint military operation under the leadership of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces to retake the control of last region from Taliban militants in Du-Aab district.
A statement released by the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said the district was completely cleared from the militants presence of militants and Afghan forces were stationed in the disrict to maintain security.
The statement furhter added that the senior Taliban commanders identified as Mullah Nematullah and Sultan were among the 28 militants killed during the operations.
A number of the foreign militants were among those killed and at least 13 others were also injured, MoD said.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
