Tokyo - UPI
The remains of 104 victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake have yet to be identified, Japan's National Police Agency said. The earthquake was triggered by a tsunami which, in turn, led to the failure of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. The remains of 70 people in Iwate Prefecture, 33 in Miyagi Prefecture and one in Fukushima Prefecture have yet to be identified, and more than 2,500 remain missing, Fuji TV said. DNA matches and facial sketches have helped the police agency identify 252 victims thus far, the online newspaper Japan Today reported.
