Bangkok - UPI
The Red Bull energy drink family will work with Bangkok police probing a fatal accident involving the company's top executive's son, the family's lawyer said. Lawyer Samak Chaowapanan said Wednesday the family of Vorayuth Yoovidhya, 27, is cooperating with investigators because family members want to close the case against their son, accused of reckless driving that caused a death after he confessed that he crashed his car into a motorcycle, killing the cyclist Monday, the Bangkok Post reported. The investigation will determine whether the accident was caused by Yoovidhya, the victim, police officer Wichian Klanprasert, or both, police said. Investigators also will try to determine whether the accident was unavoidable. "No matter how the investigation by the police turns out, we will compensate the family of the victim," the lawyer said. Police Lt. Gen. Anuchai Lekthongdee, deputy chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said investigators were questioning witnesses, reviewing security camera film and collecting more evidence. He said more charges could be filed against Yoovidhya, depending on what the investigation reveals, the Post said. Vorayuth Yoovidhya is the grandson of deceased Red Bull tycoon Chaleo Yoovidhya, and the son of Chalerm Yoovidhya, who runs Red Bull and owns Siam Winery.
