London - Agencies

The family of Mark Duggan, whose shooting triggered last summer's riots, have received an apology from the Metropolitan Police after the force failed to tell them about his death. Mr Duggan was shot and killed by Met officers on August 4th 2011 in Tottenham, north London. The IPCC is still conducting a separate investigation into the full circumstances of the shooting. But it also looked into the Duggan family's complaint that they had not been formally notified of his death by either the police or the IPCC. The Met's North Area Commander Mak Chishty said the force "recognise" that it was their responsibility "to keep the family informed immediately following the shooting
