Islamabad - KUNA
Pakistan has condemned the United States drone strike that took place in Tal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's (KPK) Hangu district at 04:45 a.m. on Thursday These strikes are a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to Foreign Office press release.
There is an across-the-board consensus in Pakistan that these drone strikes must end. The Government of Pakistan has been raising its concern over the drone strikes with the U.S. Administration and at the United Nations, it added.
The press release further said that it has been consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications. Such strikes also set dangerous precedents in the inter-state relations.
These drone strikes have a negative impact on the Government's efforts to bring peace and stability in Pakistan and the region, said the press release.
The drone strike in northern Pakistani province KPK killed at least eight people and wounded six others early this morning, said officials. The security officials told that drone fired three missiles targeting a seminary near Degree College in Tehsil Tal that is considered as the settled areas of Pakistan. Those killed in the attack included three teachers and five pupils of the seminary, said local media reports.
Meanwhile, the Chief of opposition political party and ruling party in KPK, Imran Khan in a press conference in capital city Islamabad lambasted the government on the drone strike and said that US had launched an attack on peace in Pakistan. Mr. Khan announced that his party would hold a historic protest in northern Peshawar city on November 23 against the war that the US has declared on Pakistan's peace and on the peace talks that the country has been attempting to start with militants.
This was the first attack by the US to occur outside Pakistan's remote tribal region.
Pakistan has repeatedly condemned the drone strikes in its soil and declared it as the violation of its sovereignty and international laws but US consider the drone strikes vital in war against terrorism
