Colombia Civil Aviation authority said Sunday that a small airplane carrying 10 passengers crashed in the Amazon jungle after taking-off from an airport in the southern department of Caqueta.
“The aircraft was located—fragmented and incinerated—10 kilometers from the urban center of the town of Puerto Santander … It is possible that no passengers will be found,” the Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement.
“Specialized rescue personnel are currently in a search and rescue mission for the bodies of the occupants of the aircraft,” the unit added.
Colombian authorities have not found the two crew members or eight passengers flying aboard the plane, and have assumed there are no survivors.
