
Brigadier General Christopher J. Petty took office as commander of the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo during a handover ceremony at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo on Wednesday.
Petty, from the U.S. army, took over from Brigadier General Merle D. Hart who finished his one-year term in office. He pledged to continue cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
During his speech, Petty said that NATO supports positive processes in BiH and will respond to the challenges in this area.
Hart, in his farewell speech, noted NATO remained committed to helping the BiH on its path to join the bloc.
The handover ceremony was carried out in the presence of the Commander of Allied Joint Force Command in Naples Admiral Bruce W. Clingan, and senior civilian and military officials from BiH as well as a number of diplomats from other countries.
