
More than 900 people have been injured in wildfires in the Siberian Republic of Khakassia, the republic’s Deputy Health Minister Natalya Kogan said.
"In all, 905 people have sought medical care, including 809 who are now receiving out-patient treatment. Of these 102 have been taken to hospital, with 77 of them still remaining in hospitals," she said. According to Kogan, four victims are in grave condition. There are three children among the victims.
The Khakassia fires have left a total of 23 people dead, Vladimir Markin, a spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee, said on Monday, citing data from a briefing session held in Khakassia by head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin. "At the moment, the investigators have information on 23 fatalities," Markin said.
