At least three people were wounded Monday in a fresh exchange of heavy fire between troops of India and Pakistan on the international border (IB) in Kashmir, officials said.
The skirmish broke out Sunday night and continued until Monday morning.
"Pakistani Rangers heavily shelled and fired upon 40 border outposts and 24 villages in Jammu and Samba, leaving three civilians wounded," India's official broadcaster, All India Radio reported.
Indian border guards of Border Security Force (BSF) posted along border retaliated to Pakistan firing.
"BSF troops gave a befitting reply by responding strongly with equal caliber weapons to Pakistan's firing which resulted in heavy exchange of fire, which continued till 7:00 a.m. today," the broadcaster reported.
On Saturday, two civilians were killed and six injured on Indian side due to firing between troops of the two nuclear neighbors.
Pakistan said two civilians were killed on their side on Saturday due to Indian firing.
