One foreign soldier was killed Monday in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan, the coalition forces said.
"An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member died as a result of an enemy forces attack in eastern Afghanistan today," the NATO-led ISAF said in a statement.
The brief statement gave neither the nationality of the victim nor the details about the incident under the ISAF policy, only saying "It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities."
The death has brought to 34 the number of NATO soldiers who have been killed in Afghanistan since Jan. 1.
The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the militant group launched a rebel offensive against Afghan government forces and more than 51,000 NATO-led troops stationed in the country.
