
At least nineteen suspected militants were killed on Tuesday in aerial strikes on militants' hideouts in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said military.
A statement by media wing of Pakistan military, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that 19 terrorists were killed in precise aerial strikes on terrorist hideouts in Dandi Kachkol near the areas of Ghulam Khan, Gurbaz and Mana near Pasht Ziarat in North Waziristan.
Over 1200 militants have been killed so far in the comprehensive operation 'Zarb e Azb' launched by Pakistan military against the foreign and local militants in the tribal region. Nearly a million people have fled the offensive in North Waziristan launched on June 15 following a brazen militant attack on Karachi's international airport and failure of peace talks between the government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Meanwhile, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Rashad Mahmood presided over the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Meeting (JCSC) on Tuesday that was attended by senior military officials including Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif.
Participants appreciated the strides against the menace of terrorism and the progress made in operation Zarb-a-Azb there in. At the end the meeting reaffirmed the resolve of Armed Forces to eradicate terrorism from across the country as per comprehensive security strategy, said ISPR.
