At least five people were killed in a US-led drone strike in South Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan on Sunday, said reports.
The strike targeted a compound in Shawal area with two missiles in South Waziristan tribal region killing at least five persons. The drones hovered above the area for some time, causing panic and fear among the locals, said reports. Drone attacks are widely unpopular in Pakistan and Pakistan has condemned the strikes several times in the past, considering it the violation of its territorial sovereignty.
The drone came at a time when Pakistan military is undergoing a comprehensive operation against foreign and local militants in North Waziristan tribal region since June 15.
