
At least two injured people of the Saturday morning road accident in Pakistan's central Jhang district succumbed to injuries at a hospital, bringing the death toll to 13, local Urdu media reported.
Samaa News said that 19 people were also injured in the fatal accident and two of them are in critical condition in the district hospital Jhang where all the wounded people were shifted.
The accident happened when the passenger bus which was on its way to the country's east Chakwal district from southern port city of Karachi hit to a truck coming from opposite direction.
Police said that the bus driver lost control over the vehicle due to over-speeding and collided with the truck in Nasirabad area of Jhang, a district located in the country's east Punjab province.
The chief minister of the province Shahbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the accident and directed hospital authorities to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured people.
Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan due to poorly maintained roads, violation of road safety rules and reckless driving.
According to data compiled by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people annually in the country.
Traffic police officials say that 90 percent accidents in Pakistan are caused merely by human error.
