Azhar Grand Imam receives African delegation

A delegation representing the Association of African Universities started Tuesday an institutional evaluation of Al Azhar University as part of the Harmonization of African Higher Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation initiative funded by the European Union in partnership with the African Union.
Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb received the delegation led by Latvian expert Prof. Volvoka Tatjana, African expert Prof. Hortense Atta Diallo, and Project Officer Dr. Violet Makuku.
During his meeting with the delegation, Tayyeb said that Al Azhar is the world's oldest university, stating that its academic curriculum promotes intellectual pluralism and objectivity and seeks to teach its students the different doctrines.
Tayyeb also noted that relations between Muslims and Christians are harmonious and peaceful, pointing out that Al Azhar seeks to establish the values of peace in Egypt and across the globe.
For their part, members of the delegation lauded the university's facilities and praised Tayyeb for his efforts to establish values of peace and promote humanitarian principles.
