
A dozen Taliban militants were killed and six others sustained injuries as police laid ambush against militants in Kunduz province with Kunduz city as its capital 250 km north of Kabul on Sunday, a local official said.
"Units of police organized ambush against militants in Dasht-e- Archi district at 3: 00 a.m. local time today leaving 12 rebels dead and injuring six others," district governor Nasirudin Saadi told Xinhua.
The ambuscade, he said conducted when a group of militants were passing a bridge inflicted big blow to the armed insurgents.
There were no casualties on police, the official contended.
Taliban militants have not made comment.
