7 Dead, 2 injured in Colombian mine collapse

Seven miners died and two were injured Wednesday when a shaft collapsed in a gold mine in north-western Colombia, officials said. According to dpa, the accident took place in a rural area of the municipality of El Atrato, in the province of Choco, near the border with Panama. "We could only rescue two people alive. The others died instantly," El Atrato official Cruz Palacio told Colombian radiostation Caracol.
