At least five people were feared killed on Thursday after a suicide bomber detonated explosives at a bus station in northwestern Nigeria's state of Kano, sources said. State police spokesman Musa Majiya, while confirming the incident to Xinhua, said a detachment of anti-bomb and mobile police had been deployed to the scene.
He declined to give official figure of casualties, but witnesses said at least 10 people were injured. The witnesses said the explosion at Sabon Gari area of the northern state occurred while passengers were boarding inter-state buses to their respective southern states.
Two years ago, an explosion at the same motor park claimed many lives and left scores injured. It is unclear if Boko Haram perpetrated the attack. The sect was behind similar incident in the northern state two years ago.
