Four Russian servicemen were killed and two others were injured when their vehicle was blown up by a radio-detonated mine in central Syria on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry said Monday.
The vehicle was part of a convoy transporting Syrian government troops and Russian military advisers, the TASS news agency reported, quoting a brief Defense Ministry statement.
Medics are now trying to save the lives of the two wounded, said the ministry.
Russia began its military intervention in the Syrian war in September 2015.
Russia has cut the number of airstrikes and withdrawn the majority of its troops since December 2016 but Moscow said it will continue to support anti-terrorist missions there.
