
Three village guards were killed and two others injured Thursday in a PKK attack in the southeast corner of Turkey.
Security sources told Anadolu Agency (AA) that PKK militants attacked village guards who were in charge of keeping watch on vehicles used for roadwork in the Yuksekova district of Hakkari province.
Injured village guards were rushed to Yuksekova State Hospital.
Turkish security forces have started an air-supported operation to apprehend the militants.
PKK attacks have killed more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK militants were killed in army operations.
