An Istanbul prosecutor has presented charges against 25 mid-level managers in connection with an elevator accident that killed 10 workers in the city on 6 September.
Prosecutor Erdal Bagci filed the charges last week, an Anadolu Agency reporter confirmed on Tuesday. Bagci requested jail terms ranging from between 2.5 to over 22 years.
The names of the 25 have not been published as they have yet to be formally charged.
A judge from Istanbul’s High Criminal Court has 15 days to rule on the indictment.
Ten workers died last month after an elevator plunged to the ground from the 32nd floor of a large construction site in the city's Mecidiyekoy commercial district.
Bagci has already dismissed charges against nine other people, including the owners of the construction site, Aziz Torun.
International Labor Organization says 18 out of 100,000 insured laborers die every year in work-related accidents, seven times greater than the EU average of 2.5.
