
A total of 13 people have been killed and four injured due to a collapse of land waste from jade mine in Hpakhan township, Kachin state, northernmost Myanmar, according to the local police force Saturday.
The collapsed land waste was on the compound of a jade mine near Bazan Chauk village, Seitmu village group in Hpakhan township and the victims were searching pieces of jade on the top of land waste of 150 feet height and 200 feet width on Thursday night.
The officials from the department of social welfare, relief and resettlement of Mohnyin district gave block grants to the families of the victims.
At least 100 people were killed in a landslide in Hpakan in November 2015. Over 40 landslides occurred in this town in 2015.
