Settlers, backed by Israeli forces, stormed the precincts of Al Aqsa mosque via Bab Magharba on Monday, Palestinian sources said.
The mosque guards and worshipers stood against the settlers and foiled their attempt to perform Talmudic prayers at the holy Islamic site.
Settlers' attempts to force their way into the Muslim compound have been on the rise since extremist groups have called for a wider storming of the holy mosque to mark the Jewish Passover, to fall Friday.
