The Permanent Observer Mission of the State of Palestine to the United Nations on Thursday called for lifting the Israeli blockade on Gaza.

In a statement late on Wednesday, the mission said that the Israeli authorities should allow access to people and commodities to and out of the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the international humanitarian law.

Israel has to respect all of its legal obligations, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, the statement added.

The statement also urged the international community to promptly honor its commitments to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.
