The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned, in a statement on Wednesday the recent Israeli escalations in the West Bank, including settlers’ arson of a mosque near Ramallah and the killing of a Palestinian young man in Arroub refugee camp on Tuesday, WAFA news agency reported.
The ministry also condemned settlers’ Tuesday attack on B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization based in Jerusalem, calling upon the international community and United Nations member states in particular to immediately act to stop the increasing violence and extremism of the Israeli government’s policy towards the Palestinian people.
It called upon the international community, including the U.S. and the European countries, to stand in support of the Palestinian peace initiative currently presented to the UNSC, requesting a legal and political recognition of the State of Palestine based on 1967 borders.
The ministry further called for the provision of international protection for the Palestinian people against the unceasing Israeli violations; to enable the Palestinians to exercise their right to self determination.
