Ramallah - Arab Today

The three major Palestinian dailies, al-Quds, al-Hayat al-Jadida, and al-Ayyam, focused in their Tuesday issue on the confiscation of a Palestinian-owned land in Jerusalem through illegal means by the Israeli government.

They said Israeli authorities confiscated a Palestinian-owned land in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, and transferred its ownership to a settler organization.

The dailies also said that Israeli police seized a Palestinian-owned house in Jerusalem’s Old City and transferred its ownership to settlers.

The dailies also focused on the Egyptian-Palestinian summit which gathered Presidents Mahmoud Abbas and Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi, who affirmed the need to coordinate efforts for holding a peace conference in the upcoming period.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported that Palestinian detainee Sami Janazrah, on hunger strike for 68 days in protest of being imprisoned without a charge or trial, protested before the Israeli Supreme Court against the extension of his administrative detention..

Al-Quds reported that the Chilean universities decided to boycott their Israeli counterparts. This decision comes for direct violation of the Palestinian human rights by Israel, according to the Student Association in Chile.

Al-Ayyam reported that Israeli forces detained a Palestinian girl at a checkpoint near Jerusalem, claiming she had a knife on her possession, and that she attempted to attack soldiers.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported that Israeli youth and sport minister Miri Regev proposed a bill that compels Arabic institutions to raise the flag of Israel on the anniversary of the Nakba.

Al-Ayyam reported that Israel begans a trail for an Israeli soldier who killed Abdul Fattah Al-Sharif, a Palestinian youth, in cold blood about two months ago in Hebron. Al-Sharif was wounded, laying on the ground helplessly, and posed no danger when an Israeli soldier shot him in the head.
