Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Lapo Pistelli
Tehran - FNA

Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Lapo Pistelli expressed pleasure in the progress made in the nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany).
Pistelli made the remarks in a meeting with senior member of Iran's negotiating team and Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi in Tehran on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Araqchi said that most of the way to reach an understanding between Iran and the powers has been paved and if the western side has good faith to reach a mutually accepted agreement, the situation will be ready more than any other time.
He underlined that after several months of intensive talks about technical and complicated issues, most of the way to reach an agreement has been paved.
The senior Italian diplomat, for his part, expressed pleasure with the achieved progress in the nuclear talks between Iran and Group 5+1, and said that nuclear talks showed that dialogue could be an appropriate way for mutual cooperation in international and regional issues.
He called the current nuclear talks as a historical opportunity to access a comprehensive agreement, adding that reaching such an agreement is very important.
The 10th and last round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers was held in Vienna from November 18 to 24.
In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
After the last round of the Vienna talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU coordinator Catherine Ashton announced that the deadline for negotiations had been extended until July 10, and the world powers had taken up to release $700 million of Iran's frozen assets on a monthly basis.
