U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry (L)
Vienna - KUNA

Iran and six Western countries failed to reach an agreement over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program on Monday, but extended negotiations for seven months up until next early June, US Secretary of State John Kerry announced.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his counterparts from the P5+1 group - the US, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany - agreed to resume negotiations in months time but did not set a specific date, he told reporters.
Today's agreement followed a week of marathon negotiations aimed at reaching a final and comprehensive agreement today.
Iran and the P5+1 reached an interim agreement in Geneva last November, according to which Tehran agreed to freeze part of its nuclear operations in return of partial easing of sanctions.
