Former Palestinian Authority premier Salam Fayyad arrived on Wednesday in the Gaza Strip via the Israeli-controlled Erez crossing on a several hours' visit.
Fayyad's visit comes at an invitation from the non-governmental foundation of the House of Wisdom under Secretary General Ahmed Youssef - the ex-political adviser of Hamas' former premier Ismail Haniyeh.
Mohamed Madi, a senior official at the alliance of independent Palestinian figures, said the visit falls within the framework of efforts to maintain Palestinian national unity.
Hamas sources said Fayyad will not meet with Hamas leaderships, noting that the visit does not have political dimensions.
