The EU Friday underlined that the deadline for reaching a comprehensive agreement with Iran on its nuclear programme is 24 November, amid speculations that the deadline could be extended.
"The deadline is as you know the 24th of November," Maja Kociancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative Federica Mogheirni, told a news conference here today.
She noted that negotiations are continuing in Vienna between Iran and the Group 5+1 led by former EU High Representative Catherine Ashton.
The spokesperson reiterated statements made last night by Mogherini hoping that the talks will succeed in achieving a long-term and comprehensive diplomatic solution which will address international concerns as regards the Iranian nuclear issue.
"This is the time for Iran to take the strategic decision to open the way for a historic and final settlement of the nuclear issue which would also mark the beginning of a new chapter in relations between Iran and the international community," she added.
