The assassination of former Palestinian prisoner Omar Nayef, believed to be carried out by Israel’s national intelligence agency Mossad, hit the front page headlines of the three Palestinian dailies on Sunday.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds reported that the investigation committee that was formed to look into the assassination of Omar Nayef arrived in Bulgaria on Saturday, where Nayef was found killed inside the Palestinian embassy.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Azzam Al-Ahmad, member of Fatah central committee, offered condolences for Nayef’s family on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas.
Al-Quds quoted the sister of an Israeli who was killed in 1986 as saying, “Israeli authorities had found Omar Nayef two months ago,” in clear evidence to the Israeli Mossad's connection to his assassination.
Al-Quds and Al-Hayat Al-Jadida quoted presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudainah, who said Iran’s special ways are an intervention in Arab and Palestinian Affairs.
He said in reference to reports that Iran would pay $30,000 to every Palestinian family whose house was demolished by Israeli forces, and $7,000 for every family who has lost a relative.
Al-Ayyam quoted the Palestinian President’s Office that “Abbas Zaki represents no one but himself”. Zaki, a member of Fatah central committee, had earlier praised Iran’s support to the families of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces.
Al-Quds said that, according to Israeli sources, armed Palestinians opened gunfire at “Beit El” settlement, north of Ramallah.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that the “Week of Resistance of Colonialism and Israeli Apartheid” has kick-started in Ramallah.
Al-Ayyam reported that Israeli authorities decided to ban the entry of Palestinian workers to “Ma’ale Adumim” settlement, east of Jerusalem
