
Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honoured the winner of the "Emirates Innovative Teacher Award" on Monday.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also attended the award ceremony.
Emirati teacher Mariam Rashid Suleiman Al Zeyoudi of Fujairah's Al Massa School for Secondary Education was named the winner of the AED1 million prestigious award at the World Government Summit in Dubai.
Al Zeyoudi, holder of a master’s degree and 4.0 GPA, created several interactive and innovative initiatives to reconnect the UAE youth with the Arabic language. These included an Arabic language academy, teacher’s smart card initiative, the ‘Start’ initiative, and improvement on the structure of exam schedules, among others.
A partnership between the Ministry of Education and GEMS Education, the award aims to promote innovative Emirati teachers in public, private or technical schools in the UAE.
