Dakar - Arab Today

The UAE Embassy to Senegal has supervised the distribution of 1, 550 food parcels in the Republic of Gambia, funded by the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), Dubai Charity Association and Sharjah Charity International.

Nine tonnes of dates, donated by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, were distributed by ERC.

The distribution was also attended by President of Gambia Islamic Union, representatives of Gambian charity bodies and imams of mosques. The food parcel and dates were distributed to underprivileged families, mosques and orphanages.

The beneficiaries commended the UAE government and people for their continuous generous gestures that ease burden on those fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
