The Tunisian government decided to re-form the national intelligence agency following the assassination of Tunisian aviation engineer Mohammed Zawahri.

In a statement Wednesday, the Tunisian government said it drafted a draft resolution on reforming the country's intelligence agency that will be tasked with collecting information, analyzing them, coordinating with different intelligence bodies and setting frameworks for international cooperation in the intelligence agency.

Earlier, Tunisian Interior Minister Hedi Mejdoub said foreign intelligence agency is involved in the assassination of Zawahri.

On Thursday, an unknown assailant fired six shots at Zawahri, three to his head, while he was driving his vehicle in Tunisia’s city of Sfax.

Zawahri, 49, was a former Tunisian air pilot and served as the head of a south Tunisia civil aviation organization.

The draft resolution will be submitted to the presidency for approval.
