
Tunisia’s Constituent Assembly President Mustapha Ben Jaafar met Monday with Palestinian Legislative Council member Azzam al-Ahmad of Fatah movement.Ben Jaafar reiterated Tunisia’s commitment to support the Palestinian cause on the basis of international legitimacy, the acknowledgement of the State of Palestine based on 1967 borders while halting settlements and freeing Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, state news agency TAP reported.He also pledged to increase parliamentary initiatives across the globe to pressure Israel and defend the rights of jailed Palestinian parliamentarians in Israeli prisons, particularly Marwan Barghouti. For his part, al-Ahmad briefed Ben Jaafar on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the progress made in national reconciliation.
