The Education Ministry announced on Sunday the postponement of Thanaweya Amma (high school) religion exam after it was leaked.
The exam, scheduled for Sunday, was delayed till June 29, Reda Hegazi, the head of the Public Education Sector at the ministry, told MENA.
The exam was leaked on many of social media websites, he added.
Leaking exam answers is common during Thanaweya Amma exams, the scores of which determine the college placement for students through a state-run system called “tanseeq.”
Last year, two university students were arrested for leaking Thanaweya Amma exams on a Facebook page.
High-school exams began on Saturday for the students following the old system, and Sunday for those in the new system.
About 563,000 students around the country are performing the final exams of their pre-university education over the next four weeks.
The Thanaweya Amma exams coincide this year with the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
Earlier in the day, the Cairo police information technology department identified the administrator of a Facebook page that leaks questions and answers of Al Azhar secondary schools and sells mobile headsets used in cheating.
The admin of "cheating links us", a 22-year-old student living in Shubra, Cairo also posted questions and answers of other Al Azhar education levels, the Ministry of Interior revealed on Sunday.
