The Lebanese army announced Saturday that the leader of the "Abdullah Azzam Brigades" Majed Al-Majed died in custody in Lebanon. "Al-Majed, who had been arrested by the Lebanese Armed Forces ( LAF) intelligence on December 26, passed away while in army custody" said in a statement by the army guidance directorate. Al-Majed, a Saudi born terrorist, was suffering from kidney failure and required constant dialysis. The report added that the interrogation of Al-Majed has been delayed because of his poor health. The identity of the leader of the "Abdullah Azzam Brigades" was confirmed on Friday after DNA test was conducted by the LAF. His death comes amid a dispute between Saudi Arabia and Iran over Tehran's right to be briefed on any interrogations of Al-Majed. The organization Abdullah Azzam Brigades has claimed responsibility for firing rockets into Israel and November 19 attack against the Iranian embassy in southern Beirut. It was designated in the United States as a "terrorist organization" in 2012.
