
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa today urged social media users to exploit cutting edge technologies in defending Bahrain's unity and vital interests.Minister of State for Telecommunications Affairs Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa paid tribute to HRH the Premier for his directives to heed Bahrain's unity and vital national interests. "HRH the Premier's directives reflect firm confidence in Bahrainis' awareness of the potential social media challenges and dangers", he said.He stressed the ability of loyal citizens to confront destructive and instigative calls which are alien to peace-loving and tolerant Bahraini society. In a statement today, he stressed the ministry's resolve to carry out the royal directives to combat religious and sectarian hatred.He reiterated determination to implement the Premier's directives to ensure social media are used responsibly in defending Bahrain's vital interests and preserving national unity and stability."The Electronic Safety Directorate, an affiliate of the ministry, will spare no effort to monitor social media violations likely to foment sectarian strife, jeopardize community security and peace", he said. He announced that efforts would be stepped soon in coordination with competent authorities to enforce the law on advocates of seditions and rumours. He said that tough measures would be taken against fake and inimical internet accounts which incite on violence, terror and hostility between citizens or misuse modern technologies to drive wedges, sow chaos or fuel turmoil among people.
