
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef on Wednesday asserted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called at the meeting of the higher Egyptian-Sudanese committee for launching a comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and Sudan.
In press statements, the spokesman added that the move is a reflection of close relations between the two countries. It also outlines required frameworks for achieving progress in joint cooperation in several domains, he added.
The president, in his speech at the inaugural session of the meeting, underlined the close relations binding the two countries, added the spokesman, noting that the president made reference to upgrading the representation to the committee meetings to the presidential level.
Upgrading representation reflects a clear political will to promote joint cooperation to higher levels, added the spokesman.
For his part, president Bashir expressed appreciation for the warm reception in Egypt, added the spokesman, pointing out that president Bashir underlined the importance of the meetings' outcome.
The meetings took up joint cooperation in several domains including the agricultural, security, political, tourism, transportation and sports areas, added the spokesman.
Several cooperation agreements were also signed, added the spokesman.
