Citizens in Qatif have described the verdict of the Special Criminal Court in Riyadh to impose death sentence on 14 people convicted of joining the cell of 24 terrorists in Al-Awamiya as fair punishment.
The decision also involved the handing down of prison sentences to nine people for periods ranging from three to 15 years, with citizens describing the decision as the "correct fate" for every person who tries to wreak havoc and chaos, and who threatens the lives of people and their properties, a local publication reported.
They said that the cooperation of the people with law enforcement authorities is very important for countering terrorists who try to destabilize the country and harm its people. They applauded the efforts of security personnel and their decisiveness in arresting those who corrupted the country, and noted that terrorist crimes have declined significantly as a result of their efforts.
Mohammed Al-Girani, a judge in the Department of Awqaf and Islamic Inheritance in Qatif, said that this fair and just retribution is the fate of anyone trying to provoke chaos and threaten other people. He urged every citizen and resident to cooperate with the police and to report any suspicious person or party threatening the security and stability of the Kingdom.
“All citizens have full faith and confidence in the capabilities of our security authorities to stand in the face of all kinds of terrorist actions. Our country will stay protected and guarded by the grace of Allah the Almighty and thanks to the wisdom of our leadership and the efforts of our security men,” he added.
The mayor of Tarot Island, Abdulhaleem Hassan Al-Kedar, said the stands and attitudes of the communities here and their patriotism has firmly countered all of the schemes of the enemies of the country to destabilize in the Kingdom.
“We thank God Almighty for his blessings on our country as well as its wise men and leaders, and for giving them the strength and expertise that has enabled them to arrest the terrorists. Our citizens also directly contributed in these efforts by reporting suspicious actions and cases,” he added.
