Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani
Doha - Arab Today

Qatari newspapers on Saturday hailed the huge efforts exerted by HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to free the Qatari citizens kidnapped in Iraq in December 2015.
In their editorials today, the Qatari papers praised the release of the 26 Qataris abducted in Iraq as a great political and diplomatic achievement that reflect the wise leadership of the State of Qatar.
They highlighted HH the Emir's keenness to receive the Qatari citizens personally upon their arrival in homeland, giving, as always, an outstanding model of the ruler who puts the citizens and the homeland in his heart.
Qatari daily, Arrayah, stressed delight of all Qatari people without exception for the release of the abducted citizens and their safe return to their families, hailing HH the Emir's efforts to free the abductees since nearly one year and a half.
The paper also highlighted the huge efforts exerted by the wise government of the State of Qatar under the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani until the release of the Qatari citizens, which emphasizes the high value of the Qatari citizens for the wise leadership which not only seeks to achieve their prosperity and wellbeing, but is also keen on maintaining their safety and security.
Arrayah extended thanks and gratitude to the Qatari leadership and to the Qatari active and effective diplomacy at all levels.
For its part, Qatari newspaper, Al-Sharq, welcomed the release of the Qatari citizens and their safe return to their homeland and families.
Since December 2015, the State of Qatar under a direct supervision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani exerted all possible efforts at the highest levels to pressure the Iraqi government to move and make efforts to release the Qatari citizens and hold it responsible for their safety.
The paper highlighted the solidarity of the GCC countries with the State of Qatar in the abductees crisis, noting the statement issued by the Council in 23 December 2015 which expressed deep concern over the abduction, and considered it a disgraceful act that is a flagrant violation of the international law and human rights.
Al-Sharq also noted the support and solidarity of several Gulf, Arab, Islamic and international organizations as well as the Arab Parliament which condemned the abduction and called on the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the abductees and their fast release, especially that the Qatari citizens had entered Iraq legally.
The Qatari efforts led by the wise policy of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani have succeeded in the release of the Qatari citizens and their safe return to the homeland after 16 months, the paper said.
Concluding, Al-Sharq expressed appreciation and gratitude to HH the Emir of Qatar for his comprehensive care for all the Qatari people, noting his personal welcome to the Qatari citizens upon arrival at the airport.
Meanwhile, Al-Watan newspaper underlined that the Qatari abductees case became an issue of public opinion and concern for all the Qatari people and was on the top of the leadership's agenda, which exerted huge efforts for the release of the Qatari citizens and their safe return to homeland.
