Munich - QNA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, stressed that the Middle East will witness stability, and that the change will prevail although there are some groups that oppose such a change. He underlined that the State of Qatar is optimistic about the Arab Spring, stressing that it believes in the principle of dialogue with all. Speaking at a panel discussion titled "What Season is next for the Middle East?" on Sunday, attended by HRH Prince Turki Alfaisal the chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, GCC Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani, Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and U.S. Senator John McCain, Dr. Al Attiyah said change in the region will take about a decade before democracy would prevail leading the Middle East to be one of the powers in a multipolar world, representing the feature of the new international political system. He noted that the seeds of democracy began producing results in the region, referring to Tunisia and Yemen in this regard. The State of Qatar is always "optimist," Dr. Al Attiyah said, stressing that Qatar does not create virtual enemies, but seeks to reach and engage in dialogue with everyone. On the change in the Arab Gulf region , HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs said the Gulf region is dominated by homogeneity and harmony thanks to the composition of its social fabric protecting it from any threats. About the allegations and accusations against the State of Qatar of supporting extremists, HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs said this is a typical question that I have been asked to answer it in every conference, I found that this question is raised by someone, whose conscience is hurt by the reluctance of the international community and its failure in the moral test. In this context, HE Al Attiyah denounced the world' s silence towards the killings and arson being perpetrated in Syria, stressing the need to send messages showing that there is a just international community, which deals with everyone on an equal basis. With regard to the recent developments in dealing with Iran's nuclear file by the international community, HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that the State of Qatar welcomes peaceful solutions, stressing that Iran is a neighboring country and must be dealt with.
