Transport Minister Galal el Saeed
Alexandria - Arab Today

The Transport Ministry has referred a paper of action on a project to upgrade the trade maritime transport fleet to the Cabinet to study and ratify.

Maritime transport is a big priority of the Egyptian government, said Transport Minister Galal el Saeed Tuesday.

He made it clear that a clear policy to support the Egyptian trade fleet will be outlined to better transport basic foodstuffs that will be imported from abroad.

Saeed was speaking in a ceremony marking the World Maritime Day Tuesday.

The minister said that a border crossing with Sudan, Argeen, will be inaugurated on Thursday, believing this would effectively contribute to increasing trade movement between the two countries and among African states.

A system has been developed to upgrade the Nile Valley Authority to support the movement of vessels along the Nile River between Egypt and Sudan, he added.
