
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani inaugurated Monday morning at the Doha Sheraton Hotel the International Conference on Human Rights Approach to Conflict Situations in the Arab Region.
The conference is organised by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers and the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions.
A number of Their Excellencies the Ministers and representatives of governments and regional and international inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations concerned with the protection of human rights, conflict resolution and peacekeeping, as well as heads of regional and international investigative committees and entities attended the opening.
The conference highlights Qatar's leading role in the field of promotion of human rights and the settling of conflicts to enhance international peace and stability.
It also highlights the NHRC's role in promoting human rights, especially during times of conflict and crises.
