Pope Tawadros II
Cairo - Arab Today

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese extended thanks to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and all state officials for the support and honor offered to those who were killed in the bombing that occurred inside the Boutrosiya Church next to St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbasiya on Sunday.

In statements to state television following the state funeral held at the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Nasr City, the Pope said that the catastrophe of the church is that of the whole country and not just of churches.

He called the bombing an attack “against the nation.”

"Such hard times leave us more determined to confront violence," he added.

“The Egyptian people do not know violence or terrorism," he added.
