The Omani-Yemeni Joint Committee has concluded its 12th meeting, which was hosted by the Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and lasted for two days.The Omani side was chaired by Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications while the Yemeni side was chaired by Dr. Wa’ed Abdullah Ba’Dheeb, Minister of Transport.The two sides signed minutes of the 12th meeting which concluded here last night. They also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of documents and archives between the two countries, as well as minutes of the 3rd meeting of the Naval Joint Committee and a MoU related to open skies between the two countries.Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications pointed to the fruitful cooperation between the two sides and the serious discussion in the fields that were touched on during the committee’s meeting, in addition to the several gains reached for the interest of the two countries. He wished that such cooperation would be fruitful and continuous to achieve further joint interests.He added that signing a MoU in the field of documents and archives by the Omani and Yemeni sides expresses what has been achieved by the Sultanate in this field and the Yemeni side’s desire to transfer the expertise and experience reached by the Sultanate to the brotherly Yemen.He further said that activating the airlines and the marine ports between the Sultanate and Yemen aims at opening channels of communication between the two countries to facilitate movement of goods and people and apply the standards approved in the Sultanate, in addition to touching on customs and education among other fields.For his part, Dr. Wa’ed Abdullah Ba’Dheeb, Yemeni Minister of Transport said that the Sultanate and Yemen are bound by strong bilateral relations in all economic, social and political fields.As for the documents and archives, he pointed out that it was agreed on the cooperation and benefit from expertise and rare manuscripts between the two sides.The Yemeni Minister affirmed the Omani-Yemeni relations, which witnessed broader avenues, thanks to the leaderships of the two countries whose pillars were cemented by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and President Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi of the Yemeni Republic.Dr. Wa’ed Abdullah Ba’Dheeb, Yemeni Minister of Transport, accompanied by Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, visited Muscat International Airport’s project during which he viewed stages of work. He was also briefed on the utilities and services that the airport will provide for travelers from and to the Sultanate when operating the new airport.
