
An official source at the Sultanate of Oman's Foreign Ministry said that in the context of the visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry to the Sultanate of Oman and the audience he had with HM Sultan Qaboos Bin Said on November 14, 2016 and the efforts exerted by the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah during his meeting with the Sana'a delegation who agreed to abide by the terms of April 10, 2016 Cessation of Hostilities beginning on November 17, 2016 provided the other parties implement the same commitments.
It has also been agreed that these talks will convene by the end of November 2016, according to Oman News Agency (ONA).
They have also accepted the Roadmap, including the sequencing, presented by the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, as a basis for negotiations for a comprehensive agreement to the conflict. They also pledged to work toward the establishment of a new national unity government in a safe and secure Sana'a by the end of 2016.
While the Sultanate welcomes this accord, it hopes that this step will contribute to the resumption of Yemen negotiations towards achieving a comprehensive settlement in the Republic of Yemen, ONA reported.
