Omani information minister: Egyptian-Omani ties deeply-rooted

Omani Information Minister Abdul Monem bin Mansour al Hassani said that Egyptian-Omani ties are deeply-rooted and time-honored.

In statements to MENA on the sidelines of the 47th session of the Arab Information Ministers Council, the minister underlined Egypt's central role in the region, expressing the Sultanate and its people's keenness on preserving Egypt's security and stability.

Several key topics were tabled on the council's agenda, including the Arab media strategy, the implementation of the Arab League Council's media-related decisions and the role of Arab media in facing terrorism, the minister said.

He also stressed the importance of electronic media which becomes an essential feature of technical developments in the field of modern communications. 

The council, during its meeting, also adopted several recommendations on the necessity of unifying efforts by Arab media outlets to counter terrorism, he added.

It also approved Egypt's paper on the role of social media in the Arab radio and television bodies in light of the current situation of the electronic communication, he said. 

The council also discussed the role of media and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that involves 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the minister said.
