A UAE newspaper has said that celebrations in the UAE of Oman’s 46th National Day highlighted the strength of relations between the two neighbouring countries.
In an editorial on Monday, The National said, "Yas Mall hosted celebratory events on Friday, featuring traditional Omani dancers and photographs of meetings between the UAE’s Rulers and Sultan Qaboos over the past decades. Burj Khalifa was also illuminated with the colours of the Omani flag as a gesture of solidarity and appreciation.
"This is not surprising since cultural ties between the UAE and Oman are deep-rooted and extend to the years before the union of the seven emirates. The establishment of UAE-Oman Higher Joint Committee in 1991 has led to cooperation in fields of economy, trade, transport and telecommunications. And there has always been joint work to regulate borders.
Such relations, as Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said on Friday, "are strengthened by our geography and by the great love and continuing communication between our peoples".
